Like the MIGI rapper, mechanical "flail hammer" rapping systems can deliver strong shearing
forces to collecting surfaces and have also be used successfully on discharge electrode systems.
Mechanical rapping systems have been used since the inception of the electrostatic precipitator
and are widely used around the world.
Mechanical rapping systems have found limited use in North America and are generally found in only
"European Style" precipitators.
The use of mechanical rappers, however, has also been applied to top-rapped "American" designed
precipitators. Mechanical rapping systems are ideal for extremely tenacious dusts. In most
mechanical rapping systems, each collecting curtain assembly is rapped individually allowing
large shearing forces to be applied to each curtain assembly.
