Precipitator discharge electrodes

The high voltage source is applied through the discharge electrodes. Over the years in order to enhance reliability, discharge electrodes have evolved from a wire that was tensioned at the bottom with a weight, to virtually unbreakable rigid mast pipe and spike designs. A well-designed electrostatic precipitator takes into account that different applications have their own unique design requirements. The proper discharge electrode needs to be matched to the specific application and unique process conditions to assure optimum performance. To this end discharge electrodes are offered in a variety of configurations.

These range from having the spikes oriented on the centerline for coarse particulate with moderate levels of corona suppression to having the spikes oriented tangentially to accommodate fine particulate, high particulate loadings or to overcome severe corona suppression.
